| Sessa Marine 50th anniversary |
The history of Sessa Marine is an example of Italian entrepreneurial culture in which business spirit and technological approach have reached levels of excellence. Sessa Marine celebrates its own 50 years with a huge honour, the assignment of the title of "Cavaliere del Lavoro" to President Raffaella Braga Radice. The highest accolade in Italy awarded to important figures in industry.
Milan, 5th November 2008 - for Sessa Marine there exists a single link between the 14th of January 1958 and the 30th of October 2008. Between the day on which the company was established and the historical day in which the Knighthood of Labour was bestowed on its President Raffaella Braga Radice, there stretch fifty years of work, emotions and successes, fifty years of important Italian nautical industry history, written by members of the Braga Radice family with one fundamental constant - devise, design and create exclusive boats with a perfect balance between design and technique, quality and style.
The history of Sessa Marine is one of the examples of the Italian entrepreneurial culture in which the spirit of enterprise and the technological approach have allowed excellence to be achieved. Founded by Camillo Braga, father of Raffaella Radice, the company is currently managed by the third generation of managers, Massimo and Riccardo Radice focusing on the continual improvement of the business process oriented towards the challenges on the new product-new markets axis. A managerial guideline that supports the "Made in Italy" product in which style embraces reliability and the recognizability of the brand.
NUMBERS EQUAL SUCCESS AND DEVELOPMENT
Sessa Marine deals in significant numbers. Over 30.000 boats have been manufactured since the establishment of the yard up until today; the average rate of increase in the turnover over the last ten years has been 22%; approximately 70 million euros in turnover in the last financial year. In the two year period from 2009-2011 the forecast is 100 million Euro thanks to the launch of new top of the range products in the 50-65 feet line.
Two production headquarters in the Peninsula with over 450 employees. From 2002 onwards 60% of the production is in the over 25 feet line. The main plant in Cividate al Piano covers an area of 37.000 mq as well as a covered surface of 20.000 mq. At Roccelletta di Borgia in the province of Catanzaro, the other Sessa Marine productive unit has doubled its systems now operating in a covered area of 5.000 mq.
Approximately 1000 boats leave these premises annually at an average of 4/5 units a day, subdivided into four production lines: Open from 20 to 36 feet, Cruiser from 30 to 35 feet, the Yacht line from 43 to 52 feet and the fishing line from 22 to 36 feet. In 2005 the company established its own sales, marketing and financial offices in the prestigious Vimercate management headquarters.
As of October 2006 Sessa Marine has been a direct presence in the USA, with a branch office located in Danya Beach in Florida, a strategic departure point for expansion in the northern and southern American market. A typically "Made in Italy" company 70% of whose turnover is derived from exportations to 28 countries.
Over the last few years the company has undertaken a wide-ranging infrastructure investment plan. Approximately 10 million Euro have been invested to triple the productive structure in Cividate increasing the covered surface from 6.000mq to 20.000mq and doubling the surface at Catanzaro to the actual 5,000 mq. covered.
In May 2008 the Sessa Marine product development centre, an independent unit dedicated to design, was inaugurated. All of the modelling, bodywork and pre-series activities are assembled here. The structure represents an investment of over 2 million Euros. As of 2009, asides from the two Fly Bridge models currently in the development phase, all of the other future Sessa Marine models can be created in this structure.
The technology and the engineering together with the work force, a fundamental characteristic of Sessa Marine, are merged with a renewed search for style and design. Attention to detail, the formal linearity and the clean lines, are all the elements of the inescapable Sessa identity, a product that has continued over the years to offer quality boats with an unmistakable appeal due to the excellence of the materials used.
The continuation of these company principles is entrusted to Christian Grande, a young yacht designer whose work is distinguished by a maniacal attention to detail, the high quality of the materials chosen and the finishes. Sessa Marine has, with reason, wholly embraced the design philosophy of the designer to whom it is tied in a symbiotic relationship of many years standing and that involves clients and designers in all of the aspects of the production, the corporate image and communication.
Sessa Marine also confirms its position as leader in the Italian nautical market thanks to other important factors. An environmentally friendly ethical growth has made Sessa one of the only yards to be certified ISO 14.000. This "degree" assures that the entire business production process is carried out with attention to the environment. For the last eight years Sessa has already been standard equipping its own boats with drainage for black water something which was only made obligatory in our country in the last year.
Clear choices, such as concentrating on work safety and decrease in waste. The production units are equipped with avant-garde aeration systems as well as thermo-stripe heating systems. A further example of investment in "intelligent" technology is the paint-coating robot.
One of the first in the nautical field to converge on this choice. Thanks to the apparatus the quality of the product is increased with a consequent reduction in waste, improving the level of external environmental impact and diminishing the solvent emissions into the atmosphere and within the working units. A company that aims at an environmentally friendly ethical and sustainable growth.
